Help Us To Help Haiti

Haiti Donation “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40 NIV)

Pastor Werdell Kirk is asking for your help and support of the victims of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Haiti. As can be imagined, with an earthquake of this magnitude the island country has experienced substantial damage to its infrastructure, businesses and homes. Additionally, the fear exists that thousands of Haitian citizens are casualties of this earthquake and thousands more have experienced serious injury. It is difficult to anticipate the devastation experienced by the citizens of Haiti. But consider this, it could very easily have been your homeland and you too would hope and desire that the World would reach out to you.

The Church Of God In Christ and COGIC Charities have developed a disaster relief fund to assist Haiti in its efforts. With over 100 Church of God In Christ Churches and two orphanages in Haiti along with 16% of the entire nine million person population Protestant, the impact on the Church family is dramatic. However, COGIC Charities and the Church Of God In Christ denomination are interested in more than just helping their own. There is an entire city of children, elderly, wives and husband, teens and parents that need our help.

Your gift today can help feed and clothe thousands, provide clean drinking water and medicine, and provide overall emotional support for those who have been left without the essentials of life. We are asking for everyone to consider giving a financial gift, regardless of amount, to COGIC Charities for the sole purpose of assisting Haiti residents. The Presiding Bishop, Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., has already contacted the White House about the Church’s desire to help in anyway possible. Also, COGIC Charities already has a team headed by Pastor James Pulling on their way to Haiti to assist on the ground with assessing the needs so that immediate relief can be put in place.

In the past COGIC Charities has supported mission programs in 58 foreign countries, provided over $500,000 for college-bound students, supported Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims with over one million dollars, over one million dollars in support of the Tsunami victims hit on the African continent with specific donations made to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organizations (UNFACO) and the Horn of Africa Relief Organizations (Horn Relief). Since its inception COGIC Charities has raised over $18 million in monetary and in-kind donations and has attracted significant individual supporters.

“We have 150 churches, two orphanages and 40 schools that we have either built or financially supported as a part of our International Missions program. I was scheduled to attend the dedication of one of our larger churches in Haiti at the end of this month. At this time, we are not sure what effect this disaster has had on our members, but we do know that this country is in need of support and we should help them,” said Bishop Blake.
