Galatians 3:6-9 KJV
(6)  Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
(7)  Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
(8)  And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
(9)  So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Now before anyone decides to throw me to the wolves, I know some will think, “But, what’s the harm?” However, I feel compelled to comment on a trend, which has been around for a while, that I find not only annoying, but incorrect use of God’s divinity of blessing.

Have you ever received an e-mail that started out by sharing something beautiful, wonderful, and/or uplifting and had you so moved and then it ended by telling you that in order for you to blessed you must bless someone else by forwarding it to 5, 10, or more people.  I know you have. Remember the days of chain letters?

For some of you, you may have found the content of the e-mail something that, until you read the “requirement”, you wanted to share its content with others. But, you may have felt that your senses were so insulted by someone telling you that you will receive a blessing because you forwarded the e-mail to friends.

I had a friend, who happened to be Islamic, with whom I would have a lot of discussions about differing perspectives on life.  One day we were discussing religion.  Religion being how we express our faith.  And, he made the statement that, in his opinion, the difference between Islam and Christianity was the commitment to our religion.  He used the analogy of two boxes.  A big box and a little box, with the little box sitting in the big box.  In Islam, the big box was their religion and the little box was their life.  In Christianity, the big box is our life and the little box is our religion.  Instead of being Christians at all times, many of us turn it on only on Sunday mornings for a couple of hours.  Thus, the 2/1 Christian.  A Christian for two hours on Sundays. In the Name of Jesus, let it begin.  Welcome.  It is my prayer that this will be a place where edification will take place.  I pray that the sharing will be uplifting, expanding and, enlightening.  This is not to be a place of judgment, criticism or, where people are put down.  Come here with love in your heart.  Leave with love for others.

While many people have knowledge of the Word of God, true understanding may be limited or, nonexistent.  It is only when we begin to understand the Word of God can we begin to be truly blessed by God.  Through understanding we are able to move boldly and without fear.  When we lose the fear, then we are able, as spoken in 2 Timothy 1:7, to receive the nature of the Gospel.  That nature being courage, which gives us power.  Power to stand up to foes and dangers; power to endure trials; power to have victory when we are under persecution.  With that power comes the love of Christ.  Love inspires courage, making us fearless knowing that we are under the protection and covering of our Lord. We will have that rightly influenced mind, seeing things as they should be.  Able to receive and accept the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Bear with me as I learn this technology.

Let us be blessed and be a blessing to each other.  In the Name of Jesus.
